Ben Thomas

Therapist (MA)

I employ a holistic approach to therapy that allows me to connect with my clients on multiple levels, providing them with empathetic and comprehensive care. Through evidence-based therapeutic practices and a genuine understanding of life’s multifaceted nature, I strive to help each individual achieve their mental health goals and improve their quality of life.

In my practice, I treat individuals ages 6 and up and have a personal passion for helping individuals navigate the complexities of obsessive-compulsive disorder and related spectrum disorders, various forms of anxiety including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and specific phobias, as well as depression and eating disorders. In my therapeutic toolbox, I use a variety of techniques designed to address different aspects of mental health challenges. These include Behavioral Activation, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and various techniques within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I earned my master’s degree in counseling and psychological services from the University of Minnesota – Rochester, after earning bachelor’s degrees in psychology, criminal justice, and sociology. Outside of my professional life, I balance and fulfill myself through personal interests. I love watching and attending sporting events, gardening, playing the piano, and spending quality time with my family.
